Also called phytotherapy, herbalism employs plants and parts of plants for medicinal purposes. Folklore and ancient herbal remedies have been resurrected by the alternative medicine community and are sold in health food stores around the world. Each herb is thought to have special properties that can be used in the treatment of specific ailments and also used to promote certain health benefits.
